Bell_Lecture_Poster_2019

Join history department faculty and students to hear Jeremy Ball's lecture, which examines the intersection of botanical knowledge, African paradigms of health and healing, scientific networks, and colonial expansion in nineteenth-century Angola. Who benefited from the sharing of knowledge? Did African and European ideas for treating illness impact one another and evolve together? What role did the ordering of African flora play in colonialism? Refreshments will be served.
