New vice president joins Division of Enrollment, Marketing and Communications

Stefanie NilesStefanie D. Niles joined Dickinson July 6 as the new vice president for enrollment, marketing and communications. She brings almost 20 years of enrollment management experience and comes to Carlisle from Hollins University, where she served as vice president for enrollment and marketing.

“I'm eager to join the committed and enthusiastic team within the enrollment division and help realize even stronger outcomes through solid recruitment efforts, collaborative partnerships and data-driven, strategic decision-making,” said Niles. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to refine and enhance an already strong operation dedicated to enrolling and retaining talented Dickinson students.”

At Hollins, Niles led the efforts of the offices of admission, financial aid, marketing and the Horizon program, a degree-completion program for nontraditional students. She oversaw a major research and rebranding process for the institution, including a complete overhaul of the institution’s electronic and print platforms. As a member of the strategic-planning committee, she coordinated institutional efforts that resulted in significant increases in alumnae engagement in enrollment initiatives.

Prior to Hollins, Niles was the dean of enrollment management at Bryn Athyn College and served in a number of admissions roles at DePauw University over a 12-year period, most recently as vice president for admission and financial aid.

While at DePauw, Niles facilitated enrollment efforts for the College of Liberal Arts and the School of Music. Her achievements include increasing the percentage of students of color enrolled at DePauw and creating a comprehensive international recruitment effort, resulting in growth of the international student population from 2 to 12 percent in three years.

“I look forward to having Stefanie’s energy and expertise on our senior leadership team,” said Nancy A. Roseman, Dickinson president and professor of biology. “Demand for Dickinson is very strong, and I know that Stefanie will continue to strengthen our position as a leader in liberal-arts education.”

Niles has been involved in a number of professional organizations, including the American Academic Leadership Institute’s Executive Leadership Academy, co-sponsored by the Council for Independent Colleges and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. She currently serves on the National Association for College Admission Counseling’s (NACAC) Current Issues and Future Trends committee and was a member of the same committee within the Potomac and Chesapeake Association of College Admission Counseling (PCACAC) for the past two years.

Niles was an active member and leader of the Indiana Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC), serving as the chair of the professional development committee, the program chair and general chair for the association’s annual conference and the association’s president in 2008-09. She also has been a member of a national committee on best practices in college fairs for NACAC and has presented at numerous regional and national conferences on a wide variety of topics related to best practices and trends in enrollment, financial aid and marketing. She is currently the vice chair of the University of Pennsylvania’s Executive Doctorate Program Alumni Board.

Niles earned her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Virginia, a master’s in education from Indiana University-Bloomington and a doctorate in higher-education management from the University of Pennsylvania.

Niles, husband Christopher, son Parker (14) and daughter Alexa (11) will live in the Carlisle area.
