Step #4: Course Request & Schedule Adjustment

Course Request

At the end of your summer advising call, your summer advisor will give you an “Alternate PIN,” the code you will need to enter in order to actually request your courses using Dickinson’s online Banner system. It’s extremely important that you actually submit your requests, so please be sure to mark your calendar and keep a record of your Alternate PIN in safe place! 

The course request system will be open July 17-24. Although there’s no advantage to being the first person to submit requests (the course request process is not ‘first come, first served), we do recommend that you enter your requests early in the week just in case you encounter problems or develop questions.

Schedule Adjustment

Starting August 9, the system will reopen so you can make any necessary adjustments to your schedule, whether to switch courses or to add a course because you didn’t receive all your first choices.

The schedule adjustment period differs from the course request period in two very important ways. First, the schedule adjustment process is ‘first come, first served,’ so you’ll want to submit your changes as soon as you can.  Second, any changes you make to your schedule occur immediately, you shouldn’t drop a course by removing it from your schedule unless you’re sure about your decision.
