Record-Setting Season Comes to a Close

Record-setting season for men's basketball comes to a close

A historic season for Dickinson men’s basketball came to a conclusion on Saturday night with a 80-54 loss to the College of Wooster in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Red Devils finish the season 21-8 overall, setting a school record for wins.

The team earned an automatic bid to the tournament after capturing the Centennial Conference title on Feb. 23 with a 64-40 routing of Franklin & Marshall College. The conference championship is the team’s first since 1997.

The Red Devils hosted the first round of the tournament on March 2 and won in dominant fashion over Marietta College by a score of 80-65. The post-game celebration drew national media attention from ESPN and CBS Sports, which lauded Dickinson and its fans for their jubilant but civilized court storm.

Junior guard Adam Honig and sophomore forward Gerry Wixted were named to the All-Centennial Conference Team, marking the first time in school history that the men’s basketball team had two first-team selections.
