'Thriving on Every Front': Dickinson Swimming Earns CSCAA All-American Status

Samson Qu becomes first individual honoree since 2020
This was a banner year for Red Devil swimming. Both the men’s and women' teams were recently honored by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America. And Samson Qu ’28 (mathematics) became the first Red Devil in six years to earn individual All-American honors.
The CSCAA Spring 2026 Scholar All-America Teams recognize college athletics teams with spring 2026 GPAs of 3.0 or higher. Led by Head Coach Anthony Pompei and assistants Laurel Gingrich and Devon Chenot, the women's team achieved a 3.67 GPA and the men posted a 3.35 team average.
To qualify for the CSCAA Scholar All-American second team, Qu needed to earn at least a 3.5 GPA and at least one NCAA "B" cut throughout the season.

The All-American second-team honor reflects a tremendous 2025-26 season for Qu, who set new personal bests in six events and is a school record holder in four events. Qu earned NCAA B-cut distinctions four times and broke school records in the 100 IM, and as part of the relay teams for the 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley. He also won gold in the 100 free at the 2026 Centennial Conference Championships, with a time of 44.60, and improved on his B cut time.
Qu recorded other podium finishes in the 200 medley relay (third place), 400 medley relay (fourth place), 200 free relay (fourth place), 400 free relay (fourth place), 50 free (fifth place) and 100 fly (eighth place).
"This year showed the continued growth of Dickinson athletics—progress in the pool matched by success in the classroom," says Director of Athletics Celine Cunningham. "I'm incredibly proud of both teams, of Samson's individual achievements and of Coach Pompei and his staff for building a program where our swimmers thrive on every front."
