DTG presents reflections on the digital age

Deepfakes. AI. Artifice. In a world of artificial expression, how do we hold on to what is real? The Dickinson Dance Theatre Group (DTG) explores these questions in ways that are moving, literally and figuratively.

Under the direction of Sarah Skaggs, director of dance, the concert features choreography by multimedia artist Jungeun Kim and Amanda Chestnut, adjunct professor of dance. It challenges our perceptions of what is real, what is artifice, and how authenticity is shaped and shaken in the age of artificial expression and brings the beauty of human connection to life.

"We asked questions such as: 'How do we find community while we are glued to our phones? What are the costs to social well-being when we are on our phones more than we are in community? How do celebrity culture and 'armored' bodies—bodies suited up with dark glasses, earbuds, phones—keep us from connecting with each other? And how will we live with or reject artificial intelligence?'" says Skaggs.

Showtimes are Friday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. in Mathers Theatre.

Tickets start at $5. Limited parking is available in the ATS parking lot, off West Louther Street.
