In a year that will be remembered as one of the finest in Dickinson athletics history, Red Devil coaches have claimed an extraordinary collection of conference and national coaching honors across three sports.
From an undefeated men's soccer campaign to a stingy field hockey defense and a men's lacrosse run to the national title game, Dickinson's sideline leaders have been rightfully celebrated for turning talent and grit into championship-level success.
The accolades have rolled in this fall for the men's soccer program, where head coach Jorge Chapoy and his staff—assistants Gaoussou Coulibaly, Toan Ngo and Seth Stover—were named Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year for the second consecutive season. The honor came on the heels of a strong regular season, a 15-0-7 overall record through the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament and the program's first Centennial Conference championship since 2011.
“This group has built something truly special,” says Director of Athletics Celine Cunningham, noting that the team has gone through the second round of the NCAA tournament two years in a row. “You don’t see many teams, in any sport, go undefeated across the span of a season, and for this team to do it while collecting much-deserved coaching awards and dominating the postseason, it’s been a true testament to the strength of the program Jorge has cultivated.”
In field hockey, first-year head coach Maggie Sohns and assistant Sara Reddington wasted no time making their mark, earning Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year after guiding the Red Devils to a 16-2 regular-season record, a perfect 10-0 home slate, a runner-up finish in the conference tournament and an NCAA tournament berth. Dickinson's defense was nothing short of elite—ranking 6th nationally in goals-against average (0.72) and 12th in save percentage (0.839)—a testament to Sohns' immediate impact in her inaugural season at the helm.
“This team didn’t just win games—they won 16 of 18 games coming off an incredibly tough 2024 season, never looking back,” Cunningham says. “It would be hard to find a better turnaround story in all of collegiate sports, and Coach Sohn and her coaching staff deserve every honor they collect.”
Back in the spring, men's lacrosse head coach Dave Webster was named U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III Coach of the Year, while he and assistants James Lettieri, James Malone and Chris Brandau collected IMLCA Division III Coaching Staff of the Year this fall.
In the 2025 season, the Red Devils captured their fourth straight Centennial Conference tournament crown with a thrilling 13-11 victory over top-seeded Gettysburg, then charged all the way to the NCAA Division III national championship game, finishing the year ranked No. 2 in the country.
“What more can be said of Coach Webster and the lacrosse legacy he’s built at Dickinson?” Cunningham says. “It’s a program that’s continually honored as it takes continual titles over the span of Dave’s career. He’s one of the most respected lacrosse coaches in the nation—at any level—and Dickinson is beyond honored to have him lead our men’s teams to annual success.”
The triple sweep of major coaching awards underscores a department-wide commitment to excellence under Cunningham's leadership in her first full academic year as director of athletics.
With eight All-Conference selections in men's soccer (including the second consecutive Offensive Centennial Conference Player of the Year title for Saul Iwowo’s ’26), national statistical dominance in field hockey and a lacrosse program that has become a perennial powerhouse, 2025 has delivered unforgettable moments for Red Devil fans and set the stage for even bigger aspirations ahead.
