Professor of American Studies and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies and James Hope Caldwell Memorial Chair Amy Farrell was a guest on Slate’s Decoder Ring podcast discussing fat suits.

Professor of Psychology and Glen E. & Mary Line Todd Chair in the Social Sciences Marie Helweg-Larsen was mentioned in an ABC27 story titled “Thief Mobs and Self-Checkout Shoplifters: Is Society in a State of Moral Decay, or Are Stores Exaggerating the Problem?”

Associate Professor of Political Science Kathleen Marchetti appeared on WHP-TV CBS 21 Face the State With Joel D. Smith to discuss women in American politics.

Associate Professor of Music James Martin appeared on the Travis Smiley podcast about his new project “Wide as Heaven: A Century of Song by Black American Composers.”

Visiting Professor of International Security Studies Jeff McCausland discussed aid to Ukraine, D-Day and multiple fronts in the ongoing conflict in Israel on CBS Radio’s The John Batchelor Show. He also spoke on European TV network OstWest, which is based in Germany and broadcasts to a Russian-speaking audience, about U.S. military aid to Ukraine.

Associate Professor of Political Science Sarah Niebler discussed the Pennsylvania primary election with WPMT-TV FOX43. She is also quoted in stories about the primary in Yahoo! News, AOL News, The Daily Item (Sunbury) and The Meadville Tribune.

Associate Professor of French & Francophone and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Mireille Rebeiz published an op-ed in PennLive/The Patriot-News, “One Man’s Story Shows What Education Can Do to Lift People Out of Poverty and Despair.” She also was honored at the 2024 Torch of Global Enlightenment ceremonies for her work in promoting a peaceful world for everyone and her writings on the conflicts in the Middle East.

Associate Professor of English & Film Studies Greg Steirer published Legal Stories: Narrative-Based Property Development in the Modern Copyright Era, through the University of Michigan Press. The cover was done by a Dickinson alum.

Professor of Chemistry Amy Witter published “Acute toxicity of petroleum asphalt seal coat leachates to Ceriodaphnia dubia is linked to polymer preservatives” in Science of the Total Environment.

Professor of Music Amy Wlodarski was mentioned in North Texas Daily for receiving a $45,000 fellowship to study the connection between music and the climate.

Administrator Accolades

President John E. Jones ’77, P’11, appeared on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 numerous times, both live in studio and via satellite, to discuss the New York state “hush money” trial of former President Donald Trump. He also offered expert commentary on the trial with BBC News’ The Context, Spectrum News, The Guardian, MSNBC, CNN’s News Central, The Conversation, Newsweek, Bloomberg, NewsNation’s Dan Abrams Live, Raw Story and WGAL-TV NBC 8. He was interviewed on WGAL-TV NBC 8 and WPMT-TV FOX43 regarding the Supreme Court’s decision on access to an abortion drug. Jones was quoted in The Sentinel regarding achievements and challenges in higher education. He is quoted in a WITF radio story about a new court challenge to prevent mail-in ballots with the wrong date from being tossed. He was featured in a Newsweek article about Justice Samuel Alito’s display of an inverted American flag. Jones commented on the impact of the Supreme Court’s ruling against race-conscious admissions for a story in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Vice President for Advancement Carlo Robustelli was named one of the 2024 Trailblazers in Higher Education by City and State PA.

College Farm Livestock and Energy Projects Manager Matt Steiman discussed the farm’s anaerobic digester project, which turns food scraps and cow manure into sustainable energy, with multiple media outlets, including Morning Ag, The Sentinel, WHTM-TV ABC27, WGAL-TV NBC 8, WHP-TV CBS21 and numerous public radio stations across Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro visited the College Farm to highlight the project.

Director of Sustainability Learning Lindsey Lyons is quoted in an article in The Sentinel about the annual U-Turn yard sale that represents a longtime partnership between the college and the United Way.
