This spring, Dickinson kicked off the long-awaited renovations to the HUB, a major focal point of student life. While a lot is already changing on the outside of the building, inside, the changes will soon bring added comfort, accessibility and convenience, allowing generations of Dickinsonians to eat and gather in style.
The $50 million project will unfold in two main phases, with Phase 1 launching this past May (you’ve probably noticed work being done on the North College Street entrance) and running through the winter of 2026. Let's look at what's in store!
While the major dining hall renovation is slated for Phase 2, we're not leaving you hungry. Summer 2024 is bringing appetizing upgrades, including a new serving and food-prep station, improved serving areas, paint and wall covering updates, new kitchen equipment and fresh furniture.
Winter is coming ... and so are new upper-level bathrooms! We'll be installing facilities fit for royalty (or at least very clean college students). Meanwhile, the former student mail room will transform into a swanky new conference room.
We will see the upper-level lobby get a fresh look, complete with new stairs to the lower level, new lighting, new ceiling and new flooring. Britton Plaza isn't being left out either; it's getting an accessibility-friendly entrance and a design overhaul to create congregational space for students. Don't worry, tradition lovers: The college seal stays put!
The HUB's electrical system is getting a much-needed boost. A new emergency generator, transformer and switchgear will ensure the building can handle all your charging needs (and then some).
After the construction dust clears, these changes will breathe new life into the HUB. Stay tuned for updates!
