HUB Renovation Project

This spring, we will begin work to renovate the Holland Union Building (HUB). The HUB renovation has been discussed for more than a decade and postponed repeatedly due to the large price tag. It is now time to make this bold investment in our future and in the student experience, as outlined in our strategic plan

A multi-year plan has been developed to address this critical project that will allow us to make measurable updates while being fiscally responsible.

Phase One (beginning Spring 2024)

  • improve the dining hall, including new serving stations, upgraded equipment and a modern aesthetic throughout  (implemented by fall 2024)
  • create an open floor plan for both the upper and lower levels, adding natural light to the dining hall and lobby
  • create welcoming student-gathering areas
  • transform both the Britton Plaza and College Street entrances, making them more inviting and accessible
  • modernize the restrooms
  • create a new stairway to replace the spiral staircase
  • upgrade electrical systems and generators

These changes are scheduled to be completed in 2026.

Phase Two (beginning in 2027)

  • further investments to dining facilities, including micro-restaurants
  • other deferred maintenance improvements

The project architect is the New York City-based firm Architecture Research Office (ARO).
