President Jones addresses the worldwide Dickinson volunteer community during a 2024 National Volunteer Week video.
This week (April 21-27) the United States celebrates the 50th anniversary of National Volunteer Week, honoring those who give time and talents in service of worthy causes. For President John E. Jones III ’77, P’11, it's an ideal opportunity to send a word of thanks to Dickinson's more than 1,800 dedicated volunteers.
In his special Volunteer Week video, Jones notes the remarkable reach of the college's global volunteer network, which spans generations and extends into 44 states and 37 countries. He also notes the many ways volunteers make a difference at Dickinson throughout the year, including as:
As Jones stresses, these are only a few of the ways that Dickinson alumni and parent volunteers help move the college boldly forward—just as he challenged them to do last year during his Dickinson Forward tour.
“I asked each of you to think about what you want your Dickinson story to be. I called on our community to make an impact on our campus and to help move Dickinson forward. Well, you delivered,” Jones says. “I want to thank you for your time, dedication and service to Dickinson. We are stronger because of you, and our future is brighter because of you.”
