Scholarship Story: Claire Burnet '24

Claire Burnet

“Every experience that has pushed me to learn more about myself and the world around me has rippled into incredible connections and opportunities.” —Claire Burnet ’24

Change A Life, Change the World

Thanks to support through Dickinson scholarships, Burnet (environmental studies) is already making an impact. Burnet presented findings from her research on environmental injustices the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and she spoke with scientists and officials through the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. As a Baird Sustainability Fellow, she collaborated with Carlisle leadership to improve local ordinances regarding greenspace management. As an outdoor education coordinator for the Office of Student Life, she led excursions for first-year students. She also participated in an EcoLeague exchange and a Mosaic focused on energy transitions in the U.S. and Germany. After being named Student Leader of the Year in 2022-23, she interned at NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office last sumer. And she’s conducted independent research on emotionally literate climate education.
