Dickinson’s class of 2023 has selected Senior Lecturer in International Business & Management Steve Riccio as the recipient of the annual Constance & Rose Ganoe Memorial Award for Inspirational Teaching. Riccio was honored with the award during Dickinson’s Commencement ceremony in May.

Voted on annually by graduating seniors and announced by the graduating class president during Commencement, the Ganoe Award is the only student-bestowed faculty accolade at Dickinson. The award was established in 1969 with a bequest from the late William A. Ganoe, class of 1902.

“I am truly honored to be recognized with this prestigious award and wish to extend my sincerest appreciation to the class of 2023,” said Riccio. “The pandemic created challenges for the class for most of their four-year experience, and I always admired our students’ willingness to learn not only from their professors but from one another as well.”

Riccio’s teaching includes essential courses in fundamentals of business and international organizational behavior, as well as a globally integrated seminar that combines classroom learning with a summer study-abroad experience.

“My intent for each and every class is for students to grow in some small way, possibly through a discussion or activity that will benefit our campus and the larger community,” said Riccio, who is the 53rd Dickinson faculty member to receive the Ganoe Award.

Prior to his full-time role in the faculty, Riccio served as the college’s associate vice president of Human Resource Services. He earned a bachelor’s from Millersville University, a master of public administration degree from Kutztown University and an Ed.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

The Ganoe Award winner receives a cash honorarium plus the opportunity to use funds to purchase books for the library or educational equipment for departmental or collegewide purposes.
