Puzzler: “The Big Clean-Up at the Solar Farm”

“Student volunteers were helping to clean panels at Dickinson’s solar array. Students were assigned to sections in pairs, one assigned to clean those on the north side of the path and the other those on the south side. Both sides have the same number of panels. Abby arrived early and started cleaning panels on the north side. Miguel showed up a bit later, and by that time Abby had completed cleaning three panels. Miguel informed Abby that she was on the wrong side of the path, and she then switched to the south side while Miguel picked up where she left off on the north side. After completing his side, Miguel joined Abby on the south side, cleaning six panels for her by the time they were done. Our question is: Who cleaned the most panels that day and by how many?”
