Hello, and welcome to Dickinson!
I’m an admissions associate in the Waidner Admissions House on campus, and I look forward to working with you through the admissions process!
I come from East Stroudsburg, Pa., a small tourist town near the Delaware Water Gap. I have my bachelor's in communications, and I’m currently working on my master’s thesis at East Stroudsburg University. I’m familiar with the Carlisle region, as I grew up traveling here for car shows with my family. I was drawn to Dickinson because of the sense of community and the academic benefits of a small liberal-arts school—and the town of Carlisle is quaint but bursting with life and opportunities!
Dickinson is a small liberal-arts college, which means students are afforded many opportunities to thrive in an intimate academic setting. This is visible through the study-abroad opportunities students have, among many other things. As someone who has recently traveled to Sweden for a study-abroad course, I would recommend every student pursue some type of global experience. While you don’t have to go abroad, Dickinson still fosters a diverse and global way of thinking.
Favorite places to eat in Carlisle:
- Taqueria Laurita (you can't go wrong with a good burrito)
- Hook & Flask Still Works (who doesn’t love a good Bloody Mary?)
- Hamilton Restaurant (hachi dogs are a Central PA delicacy. I’ll still call them chili cheese dogs, though)
- Helenas Chocolate Café and Creperie (crepes! Need I say more?)
Fun Facts:
- I have two cats, Elvis and Stevie. Let me know if you think she’s named after Stevie Wonder or Stevie Nicks.
- I’ve been to six European cities. Malmo, Sweden; Copenhagen, Denmark; Prague, Czech Republic; Paris, France; Amsterdam, Netherlands; and Munich, Germany.
Please feel free to contact me at saurioll@dickinson.edu with any questions you may have about me, Dickinson or the admissions process. Also, you can schedule a meeting here or an interview here.
I look forward to seeing or speaking with you soon!
