Residential Living at Dickinson

Living in community is a fundamental part of the Dickinson experience. Residential iving provides students with opportunities to develop important life skills, including how to navigate differences, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to a shared community.

Residence Life & Housing supports the educational mission of Dickinson by creating residential environments that foster student learning, engagement, and wellbeing. The residential experience challenges students to grow intellectually, socially, and personally while developing the skills needed to thrive after college.

Dickinson maintains a four-year residency requirement, meaning that all full-time enrolled students are expected to live in Dickinson operated housing and participate in a college meal plan throughout their undergraduate experience. This commitment reflects the college’s belief that living and learning together strengthens the educational experience and contributes to student success.

Sustainability is also a core value of Dickinson College. As a national leader in sustainability education, we encourage students to practice sustainable living habits within their residential community. Through the Sustainable Living Commitment and other campus initiatives, students are empowered to make choices that positively impact both their community and the environment. For more information, please visit the sustainable living website
