Hello!
Although I'm not a Dickinson graduate, I was born and raised southcentral Pennsylvania and know the value of a small, liberal arts education from personal experience. After finishing high school, I went on to earn my B.A. in history from Susquehanna University before spending a few years in New Jersey while earning my M.A. from Seton Hall. I couldn’t stay away for long and found myself returning to central Pennsylvania, eager to help students find their new home away from home.
WHY ADMISSIONS
After graduating from college, my original path took me toward history and the museum field. However, my graduate school experience helped me discover another passion that ultimately helped refocus my career path – working with students. After having the opportunity to teach and advise first-year students, I ultimately made my way into the world of admissions where I have spent the last four years helping students navigate the enrollment process. I find it incredibly rewarding to assist students throughout their search, helping them find their new home away from home. My biggest advice for you during this process is to think what you want in a school and to identify your passions. If you ultimately choose a college that is the best fit for you and actively pursue a subject or field that you love, your four years of college will truly be a life-changing experience!
WHY DICKINSON
Dickinson stands out to me as an incredible place for many reasons. As an historian, it is thrilling to work for a school steeped in so much history. Not only were we the first college chartered in the newly founded United States, but we were one of the first dedicated to providing the public with a useful education aimed at producing active, informed citizens within our newly formed country. Today, Dickinson still holds true to this original mission, challenging students with an education based in global perspective, civic engagement, and sustainability, teaching them to work towards creating a better world through countless opportunities for research, experience, and learning in and outside the classroom.
FUN FACTS ABOUT ME
- Outside of work, I am still passionate about history. I love to travel, visit museums, and continue researching subjects that catch my interest. One day I would like to return to Europe, particularly Germany and the Netherlands, where I studied abroad as an undergrad.
- In my free time, I also enjoy photography. I particularly love working with film and traditional darkroom practices that connect us to our past.
- I love musicals and used to do theater! My favorite show of all time is Fiddler on the Roof.
- Massey’s or Leo’s?: I personally prefer Leo’s, however, I am not one turn down ice cream! Both are a great option if you are looking for a frozen treat in Carlisle!
