Dickinson Parent Connection Newsletter, Spring 2023

Director of Parent EngagementEach semester, the Office of Parent Relations produces this newsletter, the Dickinson Parent Connection, as a resource for our parent and family community. Through our daily interactions with parents and families, we can identify hot topics and trends that interest our parent and family community. I hope that you enjoy reading our spring 2023 Parent Connection newsletter.

Did you know Dickinson's Career Center’s has a newsletter? Titled “The Toilet Paper” because we post it in restrooms across campus (where we know students can't help but see it), the publication includes upcoming career workshops and programming, as well as “Dson Connected” job and internship opportunities. If you have an internship or early career job opportunity to share, you can submit it here or send to recruit@dickinson.edu! You can also download the most recent issue.

Parents played a key role in Dickinson's successful Day of Giving earlier this month. More than 330 parents gave a total of $131,982 to the college, funding academic programming, student life, athletics and every other aspect of the Dickinson experience. Not only did they help us reach our goals with a total of 3,600 gifts generating over $1.7 million, but more importantly those parent donors made an impact of every current student and the future they will shape.

A message from Tara Vasold Fischer '02, Dean of Academic Advising

Tara FischerGreetings from Dickinson!  As a member of the Advising, Internships & Career Center team, my job (and the job of our faculty and staff advisors) is to help students identify, confirm and then pursue their authentic interests, which, for us, is that sweet spot where their personality, skills, values and priorities intersect.  No matter where your student is in their academic and career development process, Dickinson is committed to a strong, relational approach to short and long-term planning.
