What role, if any, should generative AI play in your course?
Clear syllabus policies help faculty communicate intentional expectations for its use while supporting student learning. In this session, the first in a five-part series on AI Pedagogy, we’ll consider how faculty can make intentional decisions about whether, when, how, and why students may use AI in their coursework and communicate this effectively to students. We will explore approaches ranging from restricting AI use to permitting it selectively or more broadly, with attention to disciplinary context and course learning goals. Through sample syllabus language and practical strategies, we’ll consider how to develop policies that promote learning, transparency, clarity, and academic integrity.
