Lavender Graduation and Queer Cap Tapping

April 29, 2026

We invite graduating seniors to self-nominate who have made meaningful contributions to LGBTQIA+ visibility, inclusion, and wellbeing at Dickinson and beyond.

Lavender Graduation is an inspiring and affirming ceremony that celebrates the achievements and journeys of graduating students in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and ally (LGBTQIA+) community at Dickinson College.

Recognizing the challenges many LGBTQIA+ students and their allies face throughout their college experience, the ceremony provides an opportunity for graduates, their families, friends, faculty, staff, and supporters to come together and honor their resilience and success.

Each graduating student is presented with a rainbow stole and certificate celebrating their impact and identity.

Nominees will be considered based on the following criteria:

  1. Visibility & Community: Elevating the presence and celebration of LGBTQIA+ identities.

  2. Wellbeing & Belonging: Supporting health, safety, and inclusion for LGBTQIA+ individuals.

  3. Equity & Advocacy: Advancing justice, equity, or addressing institutional challenges.

  4. Leadership & Excellence: Excelling academically, professionally, or personally as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
