Please join us to hear the 23rd Potter Lecturer, Dr. Andrew Parsekian '05, deliver a talk entitled "Thaw Below Zero: Salty Permafrost in Arctic Lowland Regions."

Dr. Parsekian earned his BS from Dickinson College in 2005 and PhD from Rutgers University in 2011. He joined the Department of Geology & Geophysics at the University of Wyoming in 2014, where he currently works as a professor. Dr. Parsekian’s research focuses on geophysical measurement of permafrost systems, mostly in Alaska, using electrical and electromagnetic subsurface imaging methods.  Recent projects in this area include geomorphic dynamics of surface water systems, active layer mapping, measurement of ground ice, coastal erosion, and freezing point depression of saline permafrost.
