Faculty Recital: Jennifer Blyth

November 20, 2022

Professor of Music Jennifer Blyth presents the recital Current/Concurrent.

Professor of Music Jennifer Blyth in concert.
Music provides a context for advancing an understanding of damaged ecologies, and this recital examines water and nature as place and as a point for concurrent narratives past, present and future.

Current/Concurrent arises from an invitation to students who are interested in music collaboration and performance. It is a joint effort between Blyth and fellow faculty members Michael Cameron and Eun Ae Baik-Kim; students from Blyth's current First-Year Seminar; and cocurricular students, under the guidance of Greg Strohman. Together, they explore environmental degradation through the lens of music performance.

Performing works by Debussy, Ravel, Stravinsky and Satoh alongside image, text, performance and program notes determined by students, the Dickinson student- and faculty-collaborators offer a recital that explores how we continue to shape nature--and how nature continues to shape us.
