Lunch and Learn: Spotted Lanternfly

May 18, 2022

Hear an important update on the Spotted Lanternfly.

Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to join us in Kaufman Hall Room 178 on May 18 at 12 pm as Master Gardener Jean Spears will give an important update on the Spotted Lanternfly. This event is part of the new Lunch and Learn series of programs with the Penn State Master Gardeners of Cumberland County. We have a lot to learn about the lanternfly!

Our county is one of 45 quarantined counties in Pennsylvania, and last year many landscapes and backyards were overwhelmed by these invasive pests. Jean will give us a short history of these insects and how they arrived in PA, and show us how to prepare for, and manage, the onslaught that is sure to continue this season. Following the talk, join master gardeners for questions or to work from 1-3 pm in the Kaufman Garden as part of the “Ask the Master Gardener” maintenance day.
