Student Snapshot: Cody Harper ’27
Cody Harper ’27 builds connections and skills while purusing diverse interests—from welding and bronze casting to cosplay, psychology and graphic design. Through a local internship, they explore archival work, marketing and the nonprofit world. On campus, they take advantage of the college's studio-art facilities and opportunities for social-science research.

Sun Valley High School.
Majors:
Studio art and philosophy.
On choosing Dickinson:
When I originally drove through Carlisle, I was instantly reminded of a nearby town that I frequently visited and worked in. Dickinson was also kind enough to offer me the financial support I needed to attend school without the stress of student debt.
Best thing about my Dickinson experience so far:
I’ve met so many inspiring people through Dickinson, and I’ve been granted so many opportunities.
Best thing about my majors:
The flexibility and creativity. With studio art, I have access to spaces such as a metal and woodshop, and I can create things I wouldn't be able to create otherwise. With philosophy, there are so many different opportunities for research.
Favorite class:
Advanced Sculpture. I’ve been able to learn how to weld, cast bronze, blacksmith and more. It’s allowed me to explore more mediums and ways of displaying my art.
About my internship:
I interned at SPY through Dickinson’s Center for Civic Learning & Action (CCLA). I worked on gathering historical data and did archival work, graphic design and marketing. It gave me experience working with a nonprofit, and I learned how to work with an organization to aid in their marketing, planning and archival efforts.
Post-Dickinson plans:
I would love to go into education or advertising.
Little-known hobby/talent:
I like to cosplay in my spare time. I enjoy being able to funnel a bunch of skills and creative juices into this hobby.

Dungeons and Dragons Club and theatre & dance.
