What a Difference a Day Can Make

Day of Giving

Day of Giving

Thousands of Dickinsonans give more than $740,000 to the college on Day of Giving

Dickinson's third Day of Giving, Tuesday, April 25, was a huge success with gifts from more than 2,700 Dickinsonains—and still counting. Currently those gifts, and the challenge gifts they unlocked, total $743,756 for scholarships, academic programming, student-faculty research, facilities enhancements, student-life initiatives, athletics and much more.

But with so many gifts pouring in so quickly, College Advancement staff members are still counting gifts made in person, by mail, and online. Based on what they're seeing, they expect to be able to announce in the coming days that Dickinson met its historic goal of 3,000 gifts in 24 hours. So stay tuned for a final update on the record-breaking day.

Faculty lead the way

Faculty won the day's Campus Challenge, with an impressive 53.5 percent making a gift for Day of Giving. Staff came in second with a 42.1 percent participation rate, while students took third with 13.6 percent. The energy on campus spilled out into the wider community, as hundreds of Dickinsonians took to social media throughout the day to share their pride and why they choose to support the college.

Challenge(s) Accepted

The Day of Giving's generous challenge gifts from alumni and parent donors unlocked nearly $100,000 in funding throughout the day. Dickinson thanks the challenge donors who helped inspire our community to step up for Dickinson:

Rush Hour Challenge: With 817 gifts between 7 and 9 a.m., donors unlocked $10,000 in funding, thanks to a challenge gift from Kevin Holleran ’73.

Power Lunch Challenge: With 497 gifts between noon and 2 p.m., donors unlocked $10,000 in funding, thanks to a challenge gift from Abbegayle and Michael Morrow '05.

Reunion Alumni Challenge: With 481 gifts from alumni celebrating a reunion year, donors unlocked $50,000, thanks to a challenge gift from George and Jennifer Ward Reynolds '77.

Young Alumni Challenge: With 644 gifts from graduates of the last 10 years (2007-2016), donors unlocked $20,000, thanks to a challenge gift from the Class of 2007 Reunion Committee.

Parent Challenge: With a current count of 438 gifts from parents of current students and parents of alumni, it looks like donors will unlock $10,000, thanks to an anonymous current parent, once all gifts are tallied.

Gift totals are still being tallied, so check the Day of Giving page in the coming days for further updates.

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who made a gift to the college and showed once again that great things happen when Dickinsonians come together.
