Severe Weather Plan
The safety of the Dickinson community is the college’s primary objective. In the case of severe weather conditions on Saturday and/or Sunday, the Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies will be moved indoors to the Kline Athletic Center. A severe weather plan will be used only in the case of thunder, lightning, high winds, hail or other conditions that make it unsafe to hold the Baccalaureate and/or Commencement ceremonies outside. Rain alone does not constitute severe weather.
In case of severe weather, an announcement will be made by noon on Saturday for the Baccalaureate ceremony and by 7 a.m. on Sunday for Commencement on the college’s homepage. If in doubt, you may call 717-245-1900 for information. Should severe weather conditions exist for either ceremonies, seniors will line up on the mezzanine level of the Kline Athletic Center.
Should severe weather conditions exist, the Baccalaureate ceremony will be held in the Kline Athletic Center, and seniors will line up on the mezzanine level. No tickets are required for the Baccalaureate ceremony, whether indoors or outdoors.
If the ceremony is moved indoors due to severe weather conditions, Commencement will be held in the Kline Athletic Center, and seniors will line up on the mezzanine level. Should the Commencement ceremony be held indoors, a ticketing policy will be in effect. This ensures that if Commencement is held indoors, all attendees will be in a safe environment that is compliant with local fire and occupancy codes.
Indoor Ticketing Policy & Distribution
