Dickinson Commencement Program 2022 (pdf)

May 20-22

A message from President John E. Jones III '77, P'11:

Commencement is a very special time on campus—the culmination of the academic year and the undergraduate experience, and an important event in the lives of our students, their families and the college. As an alumnus, I cherish Dickinson traditions and was fortunate to deliver the Commencement address in 2006 and watch with pride as my son walked down the old stone steps in 2011.

We are excited to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the class of 2022 and to reflect upon the ways Dickinson’s revolutionary education has transformed each class member as a student and as a citizen of the world.

Please remember that Dickinson has made a lifelong commitment to each of our graduates. I hope the class of 2022 will be active in the worldwide Dickinson community, and I look forward to engaging with our newest young alumni.

On behalf of the entire Dickinson community, let me be the first to welcome you to our celebration of the class of 2022.

John E. Jones III ’77, P’11

The preliminary Commencement Weekend schedule is below.

Members of the class of 2021, who were unable to attend in May 2021, and members of the class of 2020, who were unable to attend their ceremony in September 2021, are formally invited to participate in the May 2022 Commencement ceremony.

For the health and safety of all of our guests, COVID-19 vaccinations or a negative test is recommended prior to arriving on campus. We ask that you do not attend if you have had close contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 within two weeks of the ceremony or are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms.

Face coverings are optional. Respect is mandatory. Wearing a face covering is an individual decision. Please be kind and respect everyone’s choice. Thank you.

Depending on pandemic conditions, additional health and safety protocols may be implemented which could include masking indoors and outdoors, guests being required to show vaccination cards or a negative COVID test within 24 hours of the ceremony or limiting the number of guests to ensure social distancing. In extreme circumstances, a separate modified ceremony could be held for the class of 2020 and 2021 on Saturday afternoon.

After four years, the continuation of these ideals into the lives of college alumni is essential. The Dickinson Sustainability Graduation Pledge allows future alumni to carry on Dickinson's legacy of civic responsibility and sustainability throughout their careers and lives. We celebrate these Class of 2022 Signatories.
