Commencement is a very special time on campus—the culmination of the academic year and the undergraduate experience, and an important event in the lives of our students, their families and the college.
Because the pandemic is still ongoing and there is no indication that the state will allow us to host large gatherings in the immediate future, we are planning to mark this memorable occasion with both traditional and virtual celebrations.
We know how important this moment is, so all graduating seniors, including those who are learning remotely, will have the opportunity to walk down the steps of Old West in small groups as their name is read. These small gatherings will occur in early May and will be recorded to be included in the virtual ceremony, which will be shared on Commencement day. At this time, we do not know if guests will be permitted at the small in-person gatherings given the uncertainty regarding what state regulations will be in May.
We are still working out the many details of the Commencement celebration. More details will be available in mid-March.
