JACK Quartet
Dickinson artists-in-residence JACK Quartet, an acclaimed string group, will perform in concert on Friday, March 28, at 7 p.m. in the Rubendall Recital Hall, Weiss Center for the Arts, 240 West High Street.
JACK stands for each of the first initials of the members: John Pickford Richards, Ari Streisfeld, Christopher Otto and Kevin McFarland, who met while attending the Eastman School of Music. They have led workshops for students at Harvard University, Yale University and the Oberlin Conservatory, among others, and have performed globally at Suntory Hall in Japan, Lucerne Festival in Switzerland and Festival Internacional Cervatino in Mexico.
JACK Quartet brings what the Boston Globe called “explosive virtuosity” to a concert that places Gregorian chant in dialogue with current works written for string quartet. The program was a featured concert at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2012 and has been praised by The New York Times.
As artists-in-residence at Dickinson from March 26-28, the JACK Quartet will lead master classes, workshops, lectures and roundtable discussions with the campus community. For more information about their performance, contact the Dickinson music department at 717-245-1568.
