Dickinson continues to demonstrate its increased selectivity, as measured by the admit rate and the strength of the academic profile of the admitted pool for the class of 2018. Nearly 5,700 applications were received, making this another year with an incredibly strong applicant pool, and 48.1 percent were admitted.
Dickinson's global reach is apparent, as admitted students reflect 46 U.S. states and territories and the District of Columbia and citizens from 54 foreign countries. This is a very diverse admitted class, with 16.3 percent students of color and 8.4 percent international citizens. Additionally, 7.4 percent represent legacy connections and 280 students selected Dickinson as their first choice through Early Decision I and II.
"We take great pride in the selection of this special class—the class of 2018—among a most competitive applicant pool," said Stephanie Balmer, vice president for enrollment, marketing & communications and dean of admissions. "Their intellectual, social and global interests suggest a strong fit with Dickinson. Our community looks forward to welcoming our admitted students and their families to campus in the weeks ahead and to demonstrating why we believe Dickinson should be their top choice. For those unable to visit, we look forward to connecting in various cities in the U.S. and abroad at gatherings and receptions celebrating admission to Dickinson. Demand is strong and momentum is high. We celebrate the promise that this class reflects."
Accepted students and their families will connect with the college at a number of on- and off-campus events that offer opportunities to meet classmates, network with alumni and engage with faculty and administrators. On-campus opportunities include the Admitted Student Preview Day on April 12 and Made-to-Order Days on April 2, 9 and 16. (Registration is available through the Applicant Portal.)
Off-campus events range from big-city venues to private residences in locations including:
We'll also be bringing the Dickinson community to admitted international students around the world.
