Red Devils Lose 60-55 in CC Finals

Dickinson fell just short in their effort to win the 2014 Centennial Conference (CC) Men's Basketball Championship Saturday night with a hard-fought 60-55 loss to Johns Hopkins University.

Playing in the CC finals before a home crowd in the Kline Center, the Red Devils fought from behind early in the first half, pulling even and then opening a six point lead after Gerry Wixted '15 hit back-to-back three pointers. They ended the half up five, 31-26.

The Red Devils stretched that lead to as many as 10 in the second half, but the Blue Jays responded. Johns Hopkins took the lead 42-41 with 13:21 to go. From there, the lead went back and forth, with the game within three points either way until the Blue Jays opened a five-point lead with close to two minutes remaining.

Dickinson cut the lead back to two within the closing minute but couldn't pull off the last-second heroics to get the win or force overtime. Wixted was the Red Devils' leading scorer on the night with a game-high 22 points.
