The Dickinson College President's Award is bestowed by President John E. Jones III ’77, P’11, to individuals who lead lives of service, forge new paths in their respective fields, contribute meaningfully to the betterment of the world and inspire future generations.
This year, Adrian Zecha '52, GP'19, has been named the awardee in recognition of his remarkable career as a journalist, publisher and hotelier. Reflecting on his journey, Zecha shares his philosophy of following one’s passions and highlights the global impact of Dickinson graduates in shaping a better future.
“I think the future of the world depends precisely on [progress],” says Zecha. “We can’t continue to go back. The trend has moved forward. The more students, once they leave Dickinson, continue to push that notion, the better the world will be. They are the people who will make the difference.”
As the founder of several hotel and resort chains—such as Regent Hotels and Aman and Azeri luxury resorts—Zecha has built his success globally. A journalist for 20 years, for such publications as Time magazine, and the publisher of The Asian Magazine for nearly 40 years, Zecha has left his mark on the world in unique ways.
And he’s left an indelible mark on his alma mater.
“I have had the privilege of meeting countless Dickinsonians, but none more remarkable than Adrian Zecha,” says President Jones. “He is a true force of nature and a citizen of the world.”
