Dickinson's Burgess Institute for the Global Economy recently hosted a gathering of alumni and parents at New York's Cornell Club to celebrate the launch of the institute this fall and its impact so far.
"Dickinson is a great liberal-arts institution. We all know that," said Mark Burgess '81, the institute's lead donor and namesake. "We're all here today to celebrate that, and it's great to see a lot of alumni here who still care so much about the college."
Launched this fall, this innovative new program connects students with alumni mentors and industry leaders, offering real-world opportunities to help students in any major launch successful careers in business, finance and leadership.
"The Burgess Institute is a groundbreaking program," said Lisa Sherman '79, president and CEO of the Ad Council. "I think the alumni are such an incredible resource, potentially offering internships and mentorship. Bringing in alumni from different backgrounds, different experiences, different professions, completes that relationship between a liberal-arts education and the opportunity of really engaging in the world in a really productive way."
