As the founder and CEO of two thriving companies, Amy Nauiokas ’94 has learned a great deal about life and leadership. During a recent visit to her alma mater, this high-flying executive and entrepreneur shared practical insights, tips and advice with students preparing to launch global careers.
Nauiokas, a former international-studies major at Dickinson, is founder and CEO of the financial-services firm Anthemis Group and Archer Gray, a media-production company. She came to Dickinson this fall as the college’s second executive-in-residence. The residency program is a key feature of the college’s new Burgess Institute for the Global Economy, which provides practical learning experiences, rich mentorships, rewarding internships and extensive networking opportunities to help students in any major launch successful careers in business, finance and leadership.
"We [alumni] are here for you," said Nauiokas to students who attended an informal discussion about careers. She added that she appreciated the chance to interact with students in this way.
"The thing about the Burgess Institute that’s most exciting to me is that it provides for this level of interaction and engagement, making it less scary to think about having a conversation with an alum,” Nauiokas said. "I always say to my kids, ‘It only takes one person to show an interest in you. That's all you need.’ "
