What are some of the defining moments of your Dickinson experience?

Being given the opportunity to study abroad for an entire academic year was an incredible experience that pushed me beyond what I thought I could do. When I arrived in France, I was unable to communicate effectively with my peers and professors, and I felt like I had made a serious mistake. As the year progressed and I watched the group from the fall depart and the spring group arrive, Toulouse became a second home and my French (slowly but surely) started to come along. By the time I left in May, I felt at home in Toulouse and with the people I met there. Upon my return to Dickinson, I knew that I was going to go back to France without question and began searching for graduate programs that interested me in based off of my IB&M experience.

How has Dickinson prepared you for life after graduation?

Dickinson has prepared me to be a global citizen, to be someone who can not only work well with others but who can understand and communicate with people whose lives are quite different from mine through numerous different factors. Dickinson has allowed me to focus on my interests, while at the same time allowing me to branch out into different areas of interests, keeping an open mindset. I feel very lucky to have had such a great Dickinson education, and I think that will distinguish me even more for the rest of my life.
