Dickinson plans four unique trips for 2023

by MaryAlice Bitts-Jackson

Dickinson's Alumni Global Adventures are far more than ordinary trips. They're extraordinary opportunities to learn something new as you explore exciting destinations.

Dickinson experts accompany participants on every global adventure and give informal talks. As they share their knowledge and their passion, these experts will help you gain a deeper appreciation for the places you visit. Best of all, our global adventures are limited to small groups, so you'll get to know fellow adventurers who enjoy lifelong learning too. Dickinsonians and friends and family members are welcome to join us.

Here are the adventures we've planned for 2023:

Bruchetta and Italian wine

Flavors of Bologna and Central Italy
with Senior Lecturer in Italian Luca Trazzi
May 18-28, 2023
Living like an Italian is what this culinary adventure is all about! We will explore rich cultural traditions through food and wine. Our culinary stroll will start and end in Bologna and will include Cinque Terre and the Chianti region.

Slovenia at night

Slovenia, Croatia & the Dalmatian Coast
with Professor of History and W. Gibbs McKinney Chair in International Education Karl Qualls
May 27-June 8, 2023
From cosmopolitan cities to ancient forests and seaside villages, we’ll delve into the cultural history of Croatia from the first settlement to the present. We’ll learn about the emergence of modern Croatia through philosophy, the arts and literature.

London sunset

London on Stage
with Professor of Theatre Todd Wronski
Aug. 13-20, 2023
We’ll sample London’s theatre, history and culture with four performances in some of London’s classic venues, each from a different century, and from both sides of the curtain. An optional extension to Stratford-Upon-Avon and the Cotswolds is available.

an aerial view of Scotland

Scotland Through the Writer’s Eyes: A Hiking Adventure
with Emeritus Professor of English Thomas Reed
Sept. 3-12, 2023
Reed specializes in medieval and Victorian literature and film studies. During the trip, his expertise on the life and works of Robert Louis Stevenson will guide our hiking tour of Scotland.

As you make plans for next year, we hope you’ll consider being a part of our Alumni Global Adventures. We’ll handle all the details so you can immerse yourself in an experience that you will remember for a lifetime.

If you have questions about any of the programs, please email alumni@dickinson.edu or call 717-245-1949.
