Interim President John E. Jones III '77, P'11, recently shared this welcome message with the Dickinson community:

To the Dickinson Community:

Welcome to a new semester! I’m thrilled to be joining you as we get back to fully in-person activities. Watching the excitement of the first-year students moving in has been inspiring. I share their excitement.

While COVID-19 is still with us, we are in a much better place than we were last fall. I want to thank all of you for following our vaccine mandates. While vaccines aren’t perfect, they save lives, and they will be key to a safe semester. We are Dickinsonians, and we each bear responsibility for a successful year. Follow our health and safety guidelines, remember to mask up indoors, and do your part.

Make sure to bring your patience with you each day. The last 18 months have been difficult, and many of us are tired. I know some of you are anxious about returning to an in-person environment. Please be kind to and understanding of everyone around you as we make this transition together.

I will be out and about on campus this fall, and I am eager to engage with all of you. My first Open Hour for students will be held at noon on Friday, Sept. 3, in the Dining Hall. Shea Player ’22, our Student Senate president, will be joining me.

And I look forward to connecting (or reconnecting) with faculty and staff, whether through formal gatherings or just walking across campus. I’m eager to hear your excitement about the new academic term and your ideas on how we can move our college forward.

On that note, you will be hearing much more about Dickinson Forward: Our Revolutionary Future in the coming weeks. Please look for ways to get involved and share your thoughts.

Sincerely,

John E. Jones III '77, P'11
Interim President
