Master’s and certificate programs in managing complex disasters aim to prepare the leaders of tomorrow for increasingly nuanced global issues

Dickinson recently announced the launch of its first graduate program, a master's in managing complex disasters. Now that program and the affiliated certificate program are open for enrollment, and interested students can apply for admission.

This initiative has never been more important,” says President Margee Ensign, noting that students will become the leaders the world needs to navigate ever-more-complicated disasters, both natural and humanmade.

As a liberal-arts college internationally recognized for its expertise in global and sustainability education, Dickinson is distinctly positioned to help leaders understand the multiple causes to complex problems and to seek multifactor solutions.

Pairing that foundation with Dickinson’s longstanding collaboration with the U.S. Army War College—and the expertise of faculty from Tulane and Harvard universities—the master’s degree in managing complex disasters will allow future leaders to tackle both the existing problems of today and issues waiting over the horizon.

For additional information, visit the program's website or contact Doug Stuart, who is directing the program, at stuart@dickinson.edu. Note that in addition to the application being open, several spring 2021 courses that will count toward the master’s program are open for registration.
