Dickinson Launches Small-Business Directory

Shopping small is a powerful way we all can support our communities and the small-business owners who anchor them. That’s more important than ever this holiday season, as the COVID-19 pandemic presents formidable challenges to business owners and their families. Dickinson is here to help.

This holiday season, Dickinson is compiling a directory of Dickinsonian-owned small businesses. If you’re a Dickinson maker, leader or entrepreneur and have a small business you’d like to promote through this directory, we’d like to hear from you.

The directory launches on Dickinson's website on Friday, Dec. 5. Dickinsonians who would like to list their small businesses in the directory can complete the Small-Business Directory Form. New submissions will be added on a rolling basis.

The directory arrives on the heels of Dickinson's mask-distribution and safe-shopping campaign in its hometown of Carlisle, Pennsylvania—the latest in a series of  the college's joint initiatives with local faith-based, nonprofit, law enforcement, governmental and business leaders to help support the local community during a time of crisis, including the launch of a COVID-19 resources portal last spring. Dickinson's Office of Alumni Relations envisions the new directory as an extension of that supportive spirit across the greater Dickinson community and a way to make gift giving especially meaningful this year.

"Together, we can support our fellow Dickinsonians—and celebrate Dickinson makers, leaders and entrepreneurs—as we do our seasonal shopping," says Liz Glynn Toth '06, director of alumni relations. "Because together, we are Dickinson strong."
