Jorge Chapoy

Jorge Chapoy is the next head coach of the Red Devils men's soccer program

Dickinson College has announced the hiring of Jorge Chapoy as the next head coach of the Red Devils men's soccer program. Chapoy began Oct. 1 and comes to Carlisle from Division I Lafayette College, where he has spent the past six seasons serving as the assistant men's soccer coach. He has been involved in all aspects of the program and played a key role in the recruitment efforts, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Chapoy assisted with the day-to-day operations of the program, including the planning and execution of training sessions, video review and breakdown, travel logistics and scouting reports. He was closely involved in all gameday decisions and tactical preparation, helping to lead the Leopards to the 2019 Patriot League championship match.

Chapoy said he knew almost immediately that Dickinson was the place he wanted to continue his career. "I am incredibly grateful and honored for the opportunity to be the next head coach of the Dickinson College men's soccer program. The moment I set foot on campus and met with some of the members of the search committee, I knew Dickinson College would be the perfect place for my family and me. ... I am looking forward to leading the student-athletes and doing everything I can to help them thrive on and off the field. I want to thank the members of the search committee and Director of Athletics Joel Quattrone for their belief in me to continue to move the program forward. ... I cannot wait to meet the players and to get started."

Prior to joining the staff at Lafayette, Chapoy spent two years at his alma mater, East Stroudsburg University (ESU), where he also was involved in all aspects of the program. During his playing days at ESU, he was a stand-out player, scoring 73 goals and handing out 36 assists during his career. He graduated from Pecquea Valley High School, coming as an international student from Monclova, Mexico. He went on to become a first-team All-American in 2003 and was the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Player of the Year that same season. He holds a B.S. and an M.S. in sports management.

Following graduation from East Stroudsburg, Chapoy entered the business world and served as a corporate buyer before returning to his passion and beginning his career as a collegiate soccer coach. He added to his coaching resume, running summer camps, and serving as the head coach for the U13 girls PAGS team of ENCO United and the U18 boys MAPS team of the RYSA. He earned his National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Diploma in 2012 and received an Advanced National Diploma in 2013.

Quattrone expressed the department's excitement about the addition of Chapoy to the coaching staff: "We are extremely happy to welcome Jorge Chapoy, his wife Kim and their children to the Dickinson athletics family. Jorge is the perfect fit for our soccer program. He will provide quality instruction, motivation and mentorship to our student-athletes while working to take the program to the next level. We all look forward to working with Jorge as he begins his Dickinson journey."
