Ian Wong ’22 is a scholarship awardee and computer science major who hails from the Bronx, New York. As president of the eSports Club, he’s facilitated virtual meetups after Dickinson made the decision to go online in response to the global pandemic, and he says that virtual events have helped him stay connected with the supportive community he’s found at Dickinson. Below, he discusses his hobby, why he loves being a computer science major and more.
Bronx, New York.
Clubs and organizations:
5 Centimeters per Second by Makoto Shinkai.
On choosing Dickinson:
When looking for colleges, I needed to have both financial aid and a nice learning environment. Dickinson fit that criteria, so here I am.
Favorite place on campus:
The Biblio Café.
Favorite Dining Hall food:
Intermediate Chinese with Assistant Professor of East Asian Studies Nan Ma. I love my classmates and enjoyed my time with them.
As a kid, I wanted to be …
… a scientist.
I love reading and collecting light novels.
Best thing about my Dickinson experience so far:
Doing work at my own pace and having a supportive community.
Best thing about my major:
Working with computers.
If I could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, it would be …
… my younger brother, Evan.
Proudest accomplishment so far:
Installing over 50 access points in my high school.
