Alden Mohacsi '19 bridges the gap through art
From Georges Seurat's A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte to Grant Wood's American Gothic, you can find many of the world's most impressive works of art in the Art Institute of Chicago, and this summer Alden Mohacsi '19 (history) is right in the middle of all of them. Through a summer internship at the institute, Mohacsi leads family- and youth-program tours through the collection of more than 300,000 items, hosts gallery talks and participates in art-making in the gallery.
"Art is important because it's something that comes from just about every culture and community in the world," he says. "I find that art is one of the best ways to create these cross-cultural bridges between communities from all around the world."
