Film Screening and Discussion on Stereotypes

The Popel Shaw Center for Race & Ethnicity is hosting a film screening and discussion of the film Ethnic Notions (58 minutes), a classic documentary outlining the history of African-American stereotypes on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 4:30 p.m. in Althouse 106. After the film, the Social Justice Peer Educators and members of the Landis House staff will facilitate conversations about the film’s content and relevance to recent events happening at Dickinson and the nation.

Representatives from a variety of campus organizations with a variety of identities and affiliations are encouraged to attend the screening and participate in the discussion. Dickinson is committed to fostering a culture of dialogue, and one of the key ways to address community challenges is through education and conversation.

In case of overflow, the film will also be streaming in Althouse 201 and 207.
