Majors:

Biochemistry & molecular biology and mathematics.

How I got this internship:

Through a friend's referral.

What I do, day to day:

I support the Data Steward and Customer Service team and other teams, as needed. I do data analysis on employees’ installations and resignations, and I organize paper documents, type customers' information into the database, and update contracts with suppliers and letters of invitation.

Most valuable part of this experience:

I get a chance to experience what it is like to work at a global Fortune 500 company. For instance, the company has advanced online platforms for clock-in, certificates and approval, as well as internal communication network tools.

Advice for students considering internships:

Don't let your major limit your choice. No matter what type of company you work for, whether it is directly related to your major or not, there are always some universal workplace principles you can learn, such as how to communicate with colleagues, write an email to your supervisor and prepare presentations.

What this internship has taught me:

I now know some of the skills that may be helpful in my future career but that are not necessary for me to learn to attain a degree, such as accounting and economics. I may take some of these courses for fun.
