Annual Dickinson Investment Competition

Overview

The Dickinson Investment Competition is an annual event sponsored by the Burgess Institute for the Global Economy and organized by the Department of International Business and Management (INBM) and Finance Program during the fall semester. Open to all Dickinson students, the competition aims to enhance financial literacy, provide meaningful and “stress-free” experiential learning opportunities through simulated investing, and foster greater engagement within the Dickinson community.

The competition utilizes a simulated online platform to provide the most realistic experience through various trading strategies, real-time market data, and comprehensive industry and analyst reports. During the 10-week period, participants invest virtual funds in a variety of assets to hone their business and financial knowledge, implement their trading strategies, navigate complex information, and learn from the mistakes they make.

To ensure maximum access and equity, the competition is free of charge to students regardless of class year and major, while providing sufficient support from the INBM and Finance faculty, career centers, student organizations, and alum network.

As the conclusion of the competition, an award ceremony is held to celebrate the achievements of the winners and all participants, underscoring the importance of experiential learning and promoting the ongoing pursuit of excellence.
