Angel Shiwakoti ’17 - Computer Science and Mathematics
Austen Smith ’16 - History

We want to create an unbiased, convenient, up-to-the-second way for people to get the latest news and information from specific websites with specific keywords that they choose. Our products will vastly reduce the time people spend looking for news, thus saving a lot of time and building a new habit for people to get news. We wish to revolutionize the way of getting information: Instead of making people find information, now information finds people.

Second Place

Team GelSox

Abbey Fisler ’17 - Environmental Studies and Italian Studies
Rita Stern ’17 - Earth Science
Nam Nguyen ’18 - Undeclared

Team GelSox will solve the problem of poorly made or fitting shoes that rub against the back of a person’s ankle, thereby creating blisters and general discomfort. To do this, we propose to create a sock with a gel pad built into the back of it. We hope that this will help athletes perform better on and off the field, as well as helping people through everyday life.

Third Place

Team Sharing

Justin McCarty ’15 - Environmental Studies
Rebecca Shenton ’15 - Political Science
Carley Zarzeka ’15 - Studio Art

Sharing puts the community to work for you by leveraging the sharing economy and connecting people who have a need to people that can provide. Through the app, a user can search for a good or service that they are in need of within a miles-based radius. At the same time they can be offering a good or service through the app and can receive cash or barter as compensation. We pride ourselves on our connection with each market, and liaisons from the Community Building Office are available to meet with anyone in the community about Sharing.
