Thank you for considering employment opportunities in Residence Life & Housing. Our office is an exciting and dynamic place to work. We are looking for individuals who are looking to play an active role in enhancing the student experience at a residential college.  We are seeking team members to assist in us in the re-imagining of our residential experience, broadly capturing the out of classroom experience.   Integral to the work in our office is the value of student development and assisting the individual student in his/her experience at Dickinson.

PROFESSIONAL STAFF POSITIONS

Area Coordinator 

As professional staff member who lives in a residence hall apartment, the Area Coordinator (AC) is responsible for enhancing the quality of life for residential students through development of an atmosphere that promotes learning and fosters a strong sense of community and accountability.  Area Coordinators have a master's degree in a fields like higher education administration, student affairs administration, education, counseling, or other related filed, with previous residence life experience.  Through supervision of student staff, programmatic interventions, mentoring of students and administrative processes, the AC contributes to the development of students’ interpersonal, leadership and civic skills and fosters a healthy environment that supports the intellectual and academic life of the campus. 

Associate Director

As a professional staff member who lives on campus, this position provides leadership and contribute to the mission and goals in the area of Residence Life & Housing.  The Associate Director must be self-directed and team-oriented. This role oversees the student housing process and supervises live-in professional staff within the office. Within this live-on position, the Associate Director will work to promote a community that fosters learning, promotes inclusion and self-governance, and seeks engagement from its members in collaboration with other members of Residence Life & Housing and the Division of Student Life. As an engaged member of the campus community, the Associate Director will also develop and cultivate relationships with students, faculty, and staff across the College and have a good working knowledge of the residential liberal arts environment.

Application Process 

All professional staff positions will be advertised on the Dickinson College Human Resources website. Applications for positions must be received on line at the Human Resources home page. Candidates who are selected to receive an interview will be contacted by a member of the search committee to arrange an interview.  There will be two phases of the interview process. Initial interviews will be conducted via phone, video, or at a placement convention. Campus interviews will be extended to a short list of candidates who the search committee would like to pursue.  Campus interviews consist of a day-long interview process where opportunities to meet and interact with a variety of campus constituents including students and staff.

STUDENT STAFF POSITIONS

Community Advisors (CA)

CAs are leaders within the residence life student staff and directly supervise the Resident Advisors.  They are selected through a rigorous selection process and provide support and direction for the RA staff.  Learn more about the Community Advisor position.

Resident Advisors (RA)

RAs are intellectual, academic, and social role models who work to create an intellectually engaged diverse student community. Learn more about the Resident Advisor position.

House & Apartment Managers (HAM)

HAMs provide support and residential assistance in our small house and apartments for primarily upper-level students.  Learn more about the House & Apartment Manager position.

Student Assistants

Student Assistants in the Student Life office provide administrative and special project assistance to the daily operations of the department. While multitasking reception work and special projects (visitor walk-ins, answering phone calls, etc.), Student Assistants assist with questions pertaining to housing, student organizations, campus events, or other campus information.  This position is available for students with federal work study allocations only. Typically, this position is limited to students who have experience working in Residence LIfe & Housing as a Resident Advisor, House & Apartment Manager, or Community Advisor.
