Empowering and Amplifying First-Generation College Student Voices

What is Trendsetters?
Trendsetters is a student-led, college supported organization committed to empowering First-Generation students to build the necessary skills to excel in personal, academic, and professional landscapes. We are passionate about supporting each student’s individual journey, and amplifying all First-Gen voices on campus. Trendsetters facilitates connections between students in our community and resources both on campus and in the professional world.
Why Trendsetters?
Hear about why current students are passionate about Trendsetters and what Trendsetters means to them:
As a First-Generation college student it was not easy getting to where I am now. It was only through access of different communities and opportunities I am able to be here today. I now want to provide a space for other first-gen students while also exposing students to opportunities they would not have access to otherwise. - Luca Lorance '27
I want to create a community of first-generation students who are equipped with all the knowledge they need to succeed and to pay it forward and pass it on to students who come after them. I hope Trendsetters can be a platform to highlight our first-gen students, and show that we can pursue what we enjoy despite non-traditional pathways. - Nathan Fedornack '26
Trendsetters is important for me because it allows me to connect and help guide my fellow first-generation college students here at Dickinson. As a student that comes from a family of immigrants, who never had the opportunity to earn a college degree, I am a proud first-generation student and I look forward to using this executive role to leave a long-standing impact on our Dickinson community. - Vincenzo Randazzo '27
Trendsetters is important to me because resources for bettering our education should belong to everyone on campus. We are here to make sure that this happens and that we have a community of people who know their stuff! - Ashley Harbert '26
I joined Trendsetters to be a part of a tight-knit community that is also passionate in regards to supporting first-generation college students in utilizing their amazing resources they have here on campus. - Fathima Mohammadi '27
Trendsetters is important to me because it creates a space for those who had the courage to be first. It is a space for us to know we are not alone! - Yeis Rivera-Olivo '26
