Weekly Covid-19 Update
Sent: May 7, 2021
To the Dickinson community:
I am filled with optimism and hope as we near the end a different, but successful, semester on campus. It is an exciting moment as the nation turns the corner on the pandemic. COVID-19 cases are decreasing in Pennsylvania as well as in Cumberland County, which is in the top five counties in the state in percentage of adults vaccinated. In addition, Pennsylvania plans to lift all COVID-19 restrictions except for the mask mandate by Memorial Day weekend. This is all such great news, but my thoughts are with so many in the world where the COVID situation is so much worse.
During these final days of the semester, please continue to follow all health and safety guidelines, and continue to wear your masks. As we plan for the summer and the fall semester, we are constantly reevaluating campus health and safety guidance as federal and state advice changes. As I have stated before, our plan is to be fully open for an in-person semester this August—something all Dickinsonians can celebrate.
Students, I thank you for your flexibility during this challenging year. I also extend my sincerest thanks to the faculty who have had to change their methods of teaching multiple times, and to the staff who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to support our remote and hybrid semesters. Working together as a community, we have come through this pandemic with a renewed dedication to our mission. I am so grateful for all of you. Stay Dickinson strong.
Sincerely,
Margee M. Ensign
President
