Green Move Out: Donate Don't Dump!
Dickinson values sustainability and encourages students to consider the following options during Dickinson's Green Move Out to maximize reuse, build community, and eliminate waste destined for landfills. The Center for Sustainability Education, Residence Life and Housing and partners from across the campus and community have come together to provide endless options for the reuse of your unwanted items.
Please explore this list of recommendations and share information with others. Plan ahead to find the best next home for your unwanted items:
Sell, Giveaway or Trade Items Yourself: Use DsonMarket, Dickinson’s online marketplace (www.dickinson.edu/dsonmarket), to make money, keep your items in the Dickinson community and help others. This is a safe, inclusive place to sell hard to move items such as appliances, rugs, lamps, electronics, bikes, etc. that other students may want!
Store Your Items: Non-seniors should consider storage options vetted by Dickinson Residence Life and Housing. Find friends to share space with in a local storage center so that you don't need to give away and rebuy items later!
Donate to U-Turn: Donate non-perishable foods, housewares and clothing in boxes located in your residential space’s common areas from May 1-15, 2026. These items will be collected, stored and sold at the U-Turn Yard Sale on June 13, 2026. This project is coordinated by the United Way of Carlisle and Cumberland County and has provided over $25,000 in revenue annually for area non-profits for over 20 years! *Non-perishable food items are donated to Project SHARE, not resold.
Ask RA’s, HAM’s, Eco-Reps or residence life staff about the best options for your donations. Each building has different options.
Look for the three boxes in your building/apartment common room or laundry room starting May 1.
Clothing
Household items
Non-perishable & Unopened Food
Do Not Dump Items At Free xChange. Free xChange is run by student volunteers that are done May 1. There is no one available to manage the space after that- so please donate to U-Turn as directed above.

RSVP Events
Faculty and Staff: RSVP for Commencement
Attention faculty and staff: please submit an RSVP for the Commencement ceremony if you plan to attend regardless of whether it is an outdoor or indoor ceremony. This is especially important for those who are processing so that we can make sure we have enough seating for faculty and administrators and still allow as many seats as possible for the graduates and their families. Only those who RSVP will be allowed to attend if we move to the Kline in the event of severe weather.
Submit your RSVP in Gateway by Monday, May 11. Log in to the Gateway, click the “Employees” link on the left side of your Gateway screen. The “RSVP for Commencement” is on the right side of the screen or complete the form below.
