Part of the mandatory 3-part pre-departure intercultural workshop series.
PDO Workshop II is part of the mandatory 3-part pre-departure intercultural workshop series for students who plan to study abroad during the Fall 2019 semester or 2019-2020 Academic Year. Students need to attend each of these 3 workshops, but can do so in any order:
- Grappling with Culture I
- Living & Learning II
- Identity and Relationships III
This workshop will be offered on select Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the spring 2019 semester. Students only have to attend each workshop once.
Due to the limited number of spaces available in each workshop, you must sign-up through Totara, by logging in with your Dickinson credentials and registering for the course. If you have any questions, please email.
In order to prepare for the workshop, all attendees must review the workshop syllabus and complete an assignment before attending the session. This is accessible on Totara. Your participation in the session will not be considered complete until you have both attended the workshop and completed the assignment.
While studying abroad, students encounter differences from pace of life to communication patterns to value systems, among many others. This session will offer exercises tailored for students to engage with difference and to develop a skill set for shifting frames and behaviors for their new context.
